Our Philosophy

Care you can read

Every choice we make — from the first ingredient to the bottle it ships in — is one you can look up, understand, and trust.

One decision, twice over

What we put inside the bottle and what we make the bottle from come from the same place: choose what is good for the animal, and leaves less behind. Nothing here is an accident.

What's inside

Naturally-derived, on purpose

We build our formulas around plant-derived actives chosen for what they do for skin and coat — gentle enough for regular, everyday care.

  • Coconut-Derived Cleansers

Sulfate-free cleansers from coconut sugars — they lift away dirt and oil gently, without stripping the coat's natural oils.

  • Aloe Vera

Soothes and calms the skin while helping it hold on to moisture — in every wash and mist.

  • Chamomile

A naturally calming botanical for sensitive, easily-irritated skin.

  • Shea Butter

Rich, natural conditioning that leaves the coat soft and healthy-looking.

  • Calendula

A traditional skin-soothing flower oil at the heart of our paw, nose, and hoof balms.

  • Vitamin E

A natural antioxidant that helps protect the skin and keep our oils fresh.

The foam myth

Less foam. Not less clean.

Our shampoos are sulfate-free, so they lather less. Foam feels like cleaning — but it isn't doing the work. The surfactants lift dirt and oil; the bubbles are just for show. Skipping the sulfates means a gentler wash that respects the natural oils in a coat, even with frequent bathing.

pH balance

Matched to their skin, not ours

A dog's and a horse's skin is more neutral than ours, so a wash made for people can throw it off. Every Paw N Hoof formula is pH-balanced for their skin and pH-tested — so even regular bathing keeps the skin barrier calm and protected.

pH-balanced for dogs and horses. Tested, not assumed.

What it's made of

A bottle chosen to leave less behind

Our packaging is HDPE — plastic #2 — one of the most widely recycled plastics in the world. It's tough, refill-friendly, and accepted by far more recycling streams than the mixed plastics most care products ship in. We're not perfect yet. We're deliberate.

The bigger picture

Small choices, made at scale

The problem

Most care bottles aren't recyclable

Mixed-plastic and multi-layer packaging is hard to recycle and often ends up as waste.

Our answer

We standardised on HDPE

One recyclable material across the range, so every bottle has a real path to a second life.

Our intention reaches further than our own shelves: a world that carries less plastic. We can't get there alone, or overnight — but every bottle we choose to make recyclable is a step we will stand behind, and we will always tell you honestly where we are on the way.

Honest answers

Questions, answered plainly

Does sulfate-free shampoo clean as well?
Yes. Foam is cosmetic — the surfactants do the cleaning, not the lather. Sulfate-free simply means a gentler wash that protects the coat's natural oils.
Why does my shampoo foam less than others?
Because we leave out sulfates (SLS/SLES), which exist mainly to create lather. Less foam is the sign of a gentler formula, not a weaker one.
What does HDPE packaging mean?
HDPE is plastic #2 — one of the most widely recycled plastics worldwide. It gives every bottle a real path to a second life through common recycling streams.
Are your ingredients natural?
Our formulas are built around naturally-derived actives chosen for skin and coat. We say naturally-derived rather than 100% natural, because they include standard cosmetic preservatives and colourants — and we'd rather be honest than overclaim.
Are your products pH-balanced for dogs and horses?
Yes. A dog's and a horse's skin is more neutral than ours, so every formula is pH-balanced to their skin and pH-tested. Our products are made for dogs and horses, not cats.

Better for them. Lighter on the world.

Care that reads the same on the label as it works on the coat.
